Working in student care centre really enhances my understanding in relationships between parents and their children. Certain things are passed on to their children without parents telling them or deliberately showing them. The way they handle things in front of the kids, to the kids those are demonstrations, something to be learnt. I have some kids who do not put study as their priority at all. One parent wanted to bring her child to somewhere when the child was supposed to have tuition. Then, the child’s granny or that parent asked if the tuition could be pushed to the next day. Doesn’t that tell the child that plays comes before learning? Also there are times when holidays come, parents start to think ‘Oh, skipping school on the last day is okay, let’s go out first then come back take your homework and do’. By doing so, you are sending a wrong message isn’t it?
